The Blue Bird
Once a prince visited Florine who was living with her step mother and her ugly daughter Troutlet. The hated Florine as they were jealous of her beauty. The prince saw her and immediately fell in love with ber. Troutlet and her mother tricked the prince into promising to marry her. When he realized the mistake he refused to marry Troutlet. They were angry and with the help of a wicked fairy Soussio they changed him into a Blue Bird. Florine was imprisoned in a tower. By chance Prince Blue Bird saw her. He told her how he had come to be a bird. They started meeting regularly. Prince Blue Bird brought jewellery from his kingdom for his lovely Florine. They were quite happy. In the meantime the king died. The people revolted against the wicked queen. She was dethroned and imprisoned. Florine was released and made the queen. She had lost her Prince Blue Bird. She went in search of her prince. She came to know that Troutlet was going to marry her Prince Blue Bird. Florine went there. She gave jewellery and asked for permission to stay in the echo hall for a night. She had planned everything. From the echo hall it was easy to communicate with Prine Blue Bird. Florine narrated her sad story. Blue Bird heard it. At first he thought it to be an illusion but he had clearly heard the voice of Florine. He came to echo-hall and me Florine. Florine and Prince Blue Bird were amply supported and helped by a magician and a good fairy. When Troutlet came to know about their secret meeting she was furious. She tried to kill them but was changed into a turkey by the fairy. Along with the magician and the fairy Florine and Blue Bird, who was now a prince again, they returned to the palace. They were married together with ceremony and fanfare. They led happy and peaceful life.
